Apartments in New york? What are the good parts to live in?

Where is the best place to live in NY? I’m going to move there soon so im looking for an apartment and i love the city and shopping. Manhattan or NYC? Is there any other places in NY that are good?

Affordable/safe condos near North Jersey/New York?

My boyfriend and I are looking to buy a condo within a year or so, up to 30 miles from Manhattan. We want to stay around 0,000.00 or less for a 2 bdroom in decent condition.

We don’t care where it is, so long as it’s a short commute (an hour the longest) and in a decent area. Anyone have any ideas? Or, any ideas of what areas we should definitely avoid? I heard all of East Orange is bad, and many parts in Brooklyn obviously…

How do people in New York City live?

I believe lots of the condos and townhouses in New York City cost over million. Not only do New Yorkers have to pay that rent, they also are strutting around with thousands of dollars worth of clothes and shoes every day. How is it that these people are able to survive in this economy? How do they afford all of this? Is NYC the most expensive place on earth? How are NYC salaries different than other cities?
I read Newsweek and they are always talking about New Yorkers.
I know NYC is full of slums too, so I was only talking about the rich neighborhoods like Manhattan or whatever. I have even traveled to California and have never heard of million condos. I just cannot believe the places there are THAT expensive.
